Saturday August 16th, 2008

It's 8:30 am and I have been sitting in the garage since 6 this morning because I got one of my wild hairs and decided to have a garage sale today. I am such a dork. Garage sales are such a waste of time and I know this but for some reason I thought this time would be different. Looks like I will be making a very large deposit to goodwill later today!
Lot's to catch up on in my journal. When we left Oregon we knew that aunt Sheila was not doing well. Her health had been deteriorating for a few years from all the radiation she had almost 15 years ago when she was diagnosed with cancer. She couldn't come to Oregon because she was so weak and really needed to focus on eating and gaining strength back, but she became suddenly ill with pnumonia and was rushed to the hospital on Wednesday while we were in Oregon. Bill started looking into flights home and then she got even worse, so Bill, Noah and Josh decided they needed to get to Key West asap to be with her. They got back on Sunday and Sheila passed away on Tuesday evening. It all happened so fast and of course we all wish we could have spent time with her, but I am just so thankful that her entire family (Bill, Jason Ian, Noah and Josh) was there by her side!!!! This is a very remarkable thing because they were all in different parts of the world and dropped everything to get home to their mother. I wish I could have spent some more time with Sheila. I was planning on going to Key West in a couple of weeks to be with her and was really looking forward to quality time just her and I. Sheila was always so great to talk to. She had a way of looking at anything and everything in a very insightful way. I could listen to her for hours because she was just so interesting and had so much life knowledge! I will miss her dearly. Her spirit will certainly live on in all of us!!! Rest in peace Sheila.
It feels so weird to try and transition into anything else after that, so we'll save the rest for a later post.
