Tuesday August 5th, 2008

Let's see, where did I leave off? There were only three more days of our Oregon trip, but they were jam packed! Friday was my baby shower. Mom and Liana hosted it and it was at mom's house starting at 6. I met Liana to help her with the finishing touches while Greg went golfing with his dad, uncle Tim and Mike Taylor at Sandalee Golf Course by the house. I picked Liana up at her parents house. That is where I took this super cute pic of her and I in her mom's beautiful patio garden! We went to the dollar store to get some decorations, costco to get some food and Victoria's Secret to get the prizes for the games. By the time we got back to the house we only had 1 hour to get the party put together. I let mom and Liana do the decorating while I figured out logistics like "how are people going to walk through my mother's house?!"
People started showing up and then before I knew it, it was 10:00! I had so much fun! I got to see a bunch of friends and family that I never get to see. Here is a list of the people that were there: mom, Liana, Carol Brown, Dortha Savage, Maria Fazio, Molly Milan, Stephanie Wilmus, Shawna, Bobbi, Angela Smith, Lindsie Taylor, Lani (who I hadn't seen since West Linn HS days over 12 years ago!!!, Greg's mom and sister and Renee showed up at the end!!! It was a lot of fun. We ate, played games, opened presents :) I got a ton of PINK CLOTHES! Super cute stuff, although I was really hoping to get more from our registery. We did get the swing we wanted from Angela and Lindsie! We just need so many of the necessities like a crib, stroller, car seat, rocker, bottles, diapers,etc....but the clothes are fun so I don't blame people for wanting to buy them instead. Molly Milan made a very special book for the baby's time capsule that is all about "leaping" because 2008 is a leap year.
The next day was Saturday August 2nd...Greg and my 5th wedding anniversary, Tim and Molly's 28th anniversary and Rowan's wedding day. Greg and I woke up early and drove down to NE portland to meet Blake, Ethan & Angela, Mike & Lindsie for breakfast at the Tin Shed a super cute and yummy breakfast place on Alberta! Then we headed to Maryville Nursing Home to say goodbye to grandma. It was so hard saying goodbye to grandma because I never know if I am going to see her again. She asked us to come back tomorrow and when I told her we were leaving the next day she started crying. Then I started crying and we cried together. She eventually closed her eyes to fall asleep, but all I could think about was how she could just stop breathing right then and there. Part of me, as bad as it may sound, felt okay with that idea I think because I would rather be there to say goodbye to grandma in person then to hear about it over the phone. I want her to stay alive long enough to meet her great granddaughter, but I also know how miserable she is and how badly she wants to be up in heaven with grandpa! I went to kiss grandma on the forehead and her eyes opened again and we just stared into eachother's eyes...it was a moment I will never forget. Our life together flashed before me and I suddenly thought of every happy memory I had of grandma. Like going to the beach house and back to school shopping, feeding the seagals, going into the pantry at her house to get some goodies, eating oyster crackers in the back seat of her cadillac :) We were both crying again and when I asked her to stop, she told me it was happy tears which all of a sudden made the moment very comforting. We watched he close her eyes to go to sleep and we left.
over to Daniell and Jarod's to say goodbye to them, the kids and Greg's parents. I hate goodbyes!

Then we finally headed to Dad's for the wedding. The house looked beautiful! Molly told Greg and I that we were sitting at the front table with her & Tim and Dad & Marge which I thought was very special. When Rowan and Alicia walked down the lawn and stood in front of the minister, the first thing he said was, "We are gathered here today to celebrate the marriage of Rowan and Alicia.
They would first like to ackowledge Rowan's parents 28th wedding anniversary and his cousin Stephanie and husband Greg's 5th wedding anniversary. At this time Rowan and Alicia would like to present a rose to each of the couples." Rowan gave the rose to his mother and Alicia handed me a rose and said "congratulations!". I cried of course, but thankfully I was wearing sunglasses!
